News for the Week of February 5th - 11th, 2018
Many of us slept in on Monday morning after staying up to watch the Super Bowl. The game was the main topic of discussion that day and all agreed it was a great game and we are happy for the Eagles. Monday morning found our sewing group in the Square working on more of our pet blankets. Meanwhile exercises were the order of business in the East Dining Room. Tony leads this group and always makes exercising a fun time. In the afternoon residents gathered in the Square for our monthly black out bingo. It was the first time playing bingo this way, and everyone had a great time. We played three rounds, which meant three residents went away the big winners and split a pot of over twenty dollars. Those that left empty handed said they can’t wait to play again next month as maybe it will be their turn to win the pot!
Tuesday morning started out with a fast pace game of volleyball. Residents lined up in the dining room for an hour of toss the ball. Everyone came away the winner, with all getting a little exercise in the process. The afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All smoothly.
Wednesday morning, Pastor Walck led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and singing along to our favorite hymns. Rich Schroeder entertained us in the afternoon. He always draws a crowd as his beautiful voice and guitar playing echoes through the halls.
On Thursday morning our Green Leaf Crafters met in the square to talk about our next craft projects. Several options were discussed and it was decided that we will once again start the seeds for our courtyard planters and after that we will make mini hat magnets for our refrigerators. It was sure nice to talk about Spring related projects. Meanwhile residents gathered in the East Dining room to participate in our catholic worship service. Father Joe and Duane from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk Mound take time from their busy schedule to come as share with our residents and it is much appreciated. We exercised our brains Thursday afternoon with our monthly Spelling Bee. The residents enjoy testing their 1/8/2019 News for the week of February 5th to the 11th - Colfax Health And Rehabilitation Center, Inc. knowledge, and also reminisce about past school days when an occasional Spelling Bee was a part of the school curriculum.
The Catholics gathered on East for our Friday morning rosary group led by Loretta. Later in the Square we held Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of music and prayer. Friday afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
Many of us will spend next week watching the Winter Olympics and cheering for the Luncheon followed by a Sweetheart’s Dance with music by Chuck Kirkwood and Friends.
Until next week, Barb Stobb, Activity Director
